Sharp & Social: Hand Embroidery Workshop - Saturday, August 15, 10am - 12pm
Think embroidery is just for pristine pillowcases and stiff samplers? Think again! We’re taking this heritage craft and giving it the Sharp & Social treatment by bringing it to the dinner table.
Whether you haven’t held a needle since Home Ec class or you’re just looking for a creative escape from your screens, this workshop is your perfect starting point for a more intentional home.
The Project:
In this 2-hour session, we will guide you through a relaxed, modern introduction to hand embroidery.
What We’ll Cover:
We provide everything you need to go from a blank piece of fabric to a finished piece of art.
The Foundations: How to properly "dress" your hoop, transfer patterns to fine linens, and prep your floss for a professional, snag-free finish.
The Library of Stitches: You’ll master the Backstitch, Whipped Back Stitch, Satin Stitch, and the French Knot—the essential building blocks for elegant, floral designs
What's Included: Your ticket includes a full beginner kit designed to help you finish your set:
The fabric for your project
A reusable wooden embroidery hoop
A curated palette of premium embroidery floss & needles
A needle minder and an instructional guide with patterns to complete your project
The Vibe
We provide the supplies, the guidance, and the atmosphere—you just provide the hands.
Flying Solo? Please do! Many of our attendees come on their own to meet new friends, though stitching with a bestie is always welcome, too.
Age Requirement: This workshop is for adults and teens 16+. For safety reasons, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult.
Arrive Early & Enjoy the Gardens! Doors open 30 minutes before the workshop begins, giving you plenty of time to settle in, browse, and get inspired. As a thank-you for joining us, workshop participants receive 15% off purchases in our Home & Gift Store and Nursery on the day of the event.
Photography Notice:To celebrate and share the creativity of our workshops, photos and short video clips may be taken during this event for promotional, website, and social media purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please let the instructor know upon arrival, and we will gladly respect your wishes.
Accessibility Notice: Please note that some workshops are held on the second floor and are accessible only by stairs. If this may present a challenge for you, please contact us before registering at office@southstreetgardens.com.
About Sharp & Social
At Sharp & Social, we believe that making things with your hands is good for the brain, but making them with friends is good for the soul. In a world that is increasingly digital and disconnected, we wanted to build a space where creativity and community intersect.
We founded this club on a simple premise: we all need a place to disconnect from our screens and reconnect with each other. Whether you are here to master a complex stitch, find a moment of quiet on a Saturday morning, or simply have a laugh while your hands are busy, you have a seat at our table.
We take our craft seriously, but never ourselves. Come get sharp with us.
