Celebrate the New Year through the beauty of Japanese tradition. Join us for a hands-on shimenawa wreath workshop, led by Kaya from Momoglobal Flowers, as we weave together art, culture, and good fortune.
The shimenawa — a sacred rope made of rice straw — has been used for centuries in Shinto tradition to ward off evil spirits and invite blessings from the gods. During the New Year, a smaller version called shimekazari is displayed on doors to welcome the kami (deity) of the coming year.
Under Kaya’s expert guidance, you’ll learn how to craft your own shimenawa using natural materials and discover the meaning behind each element. Perfect for beginners and flower enthusiasts alike and take home a meaningful piece to display for the season of renewal. Stay afterwards and enjoy hot matcha and rice sweet treat!
What’s Included:
All Materials and decorative elements
Step-by-step instruction and floral guidance by Kaya (Momoglobal Flowers)
Matcha and rice sweet treat
Welcome the New Year with harmony and joy!
