In this 2 hour session, we will come together for a relaxed introduction to hand embroidery - learning basic, but beautiful stitches that will bring your fabric to life. Whether you’re threading a needle for the very first time or simply looking for a peaceful night gathered with new friends, this session is all about creativity and connection.

The first half of our event will focus on learning the fundamentals, followed by practice time to settle in with cozy music, good company, and our new hand embroidery projects. Hands-on guidance is provided, so come ready to learn! 

What you will learn

  • How to dress your hoop - prepare your fabric and embroidery hoop so you can add your design

  • How to prepare your thread and needle for stitching - Separating your thread, the length recommended for threading, and a bit of information about the needles to use

  • How to prepare your pattern - Tracing on your design or adding your pattern 

  • A set of basic stitching techniques

    • Straight Stitch – Great for adding small details, like stars, grass, or decorative lines

    • Backstitch – Perfect for outlining and creating smooth, continuous lines

    • Running Stitch – It’s great for borders, decorative details

    • Satin Stitch – Perfect for petals, leaves, or geometric designs

    • Lazy Daisy – An easy way to make cute little flowers by looping thread into petal shapes and securing them with a small stitch

    • French Knot – Adds lovely texture and is great for dots or flower centers

    • Chain Stitch – It’s beautiful for outlining, lettering, or adding texture

    • A Woven rose – a slightly more advanced stitch that results in a beautiful flower
